FESTA RAPPAHANNOCK CELEBRATES THE LAUNCH OF
NEW “ARTISANAL WINERIES OF RAPPAHANNOCK” WINE TRAIL

Dates are Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1, 11 to 5, at Rappahannock Cellars

Rappahannock County, VA, July 15, 2010 – Five wineries located in Rappahannock County, Virginia, will celebrate the launch of the new “Artisanal Wineries of Rappahannock” wine trail at FESTA RAPPAHANNOCK on July 31 and August 1, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The celebration will take place at Rappahannock Cellars, 14437 Hume Road in Huntly, Virginia. Proceeds will benefit Hospice of the Rapidan. For more information, visit http://www.artwinerc.com/ or call 540-635-9398.

Virginia’s newest and most unique wine trail is a collection of artisanal, family-run wineries who have joined together to offer a premium wine tasting experience that is rooted in small lot, handcrafted wines. Artisanal Wineries of Rappahannock are all located in Rappahannock County, just a short scenic drive from one another, and only an hour from the DC beltway and close to the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a boutique, casual wine tasting trail, in sharp contrast to the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia.

The Artisanal Wineries of Rappahannock “coming out” party is a celebration of Viognier and Cabernet Franc wines and “slow” local food. Featured will be locally-raised beef provided by Briarmead Farms, and chicken raised locally by Beatrix Farms, both of the Northern Valley Pastoral Guild, along with local produce, all creatively prepared by the chefs of The Marriott Ranch. Live musical entertainment will round out the day.
The Artisanal Wineries of Rappahannock include the Jung Family of Chester Gap Cellars (ChesterGapCellars.com), the Gadino Family of Gadino Cellars (GadinoCellars.com), the Patil family of Narmada Winery (NarmadaWinery.com), the Delmare Family of Rappahannock Cellars (RappahannockCellars.com), and the East Family of Sharp Rock Vineyards (SharpRockVineyards.com). These dedicated winemakers invite you to experience their individual family’s hospitality, artisanal wines and uniquely intimate environments.

Visiting the Artisanal Wineries of Rappahannock County is only the beginning of your Rappahannock County experience. The five villages of Rappahannock County do offer a variety of shops, world class artist studios, award-winning B&B’s and restaurants, antique shops and farm cooperatives featuring local produce, meats and cheeses. Hospice of the Rapidan is located in Culpeper, Virginia and provides skilled medical care, social work, bereavement care, volunteer support, and spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their families residing in the Piedmont region.
